With summer on its way, everybody is looking to the celebrities for ideas of what is going to be hot on the beach, and also, of course, for those wonderful pictures that bikinis were made for - the ones that remind us that even the most beautiful stars don't always look perfect-¦

So, here is a round-up of some bikini based celebrity news.



First off, Rihanna attracted attention when she was photographed wearing a completely mismatched bikini. The top half featured monochromatic stripes and the bottom? Bright yellow leopard print. Whether it was designed this way or whether they were two halves of different bikinis we may never know, but despite the weird effect, Rihanna's relaxed confidence and perfect figure still made this a striking image.

Also making headlines was Scary Spice Mel B, who was caught on camera wearing a bright yellow bikini under a full length transparent tiger print kaftan. This -œcover-up- was covering very little, so it was a brave choice given that she wasn't actually on the beach, but apparently out shopping.

Kanye West's on off girlfriend and former stripper Amber Rose stepped out in Barcelona wearing a bikini crafted, if you look at shots of her from behind, entirely from string. The thong style bikini afforded onlookers a full view of her curvy rear as she holidayed with the rap star.

Lindsay Lohan was snapped in a cute, colorful bikini aboard a boat in St Barts. In neon pink with crossover detail at the front, it was a fresh look for the troubled star, however some speculated that she still looks especially skinny.

Star of The Hills, Heidi Montag, also made headlines recently in a bikini related story. Pictured in a pink and white string bikini while hosting the Liquid Pool at Aria at CityCenter Las Vegas. The surgically enhanced star, who famously underwent 10 cosmetic surgery procedures in one day, very nearly burst out of the top half of the skimpy garment, much to the amusement of onlookers. Montag has recently claimed her ambition is to be -œthe next Britney Spears-, so that could be interesting.

Finally, a star whose name is almost synonymous with beach wear, Pamela Anderson was criticized for hitting the runway at a Fashion Show in New York in a swimsuit. As it is over 20 years since Baywatch started, obviously Pammy does not look quite the same as she did in her busty, beachy hayday, but it still got the columnists talking, which was presumably the idea behind putting her in the show.
